Governor and Mrs Hurley were greeted by Loyola Principal Cathy Larkin, Catholic Trade Training Centre (CTTC) Director Samantha Boreham and Loyola Assistant Principal Patrick Finnerty. They then saw first-hand the many learning opportunities within the CTTC including the carpentry space and the automotive centre where students were hard at work on a variety of projects.

Mrs Hurley, a retired primary school teacher, took a particular liking to the Early Childhood Room and invited everyone to sing You Are My Sunshine with her.

Mrs Hurley is well-known for breaking into song. She is a strong believer in “every workplace downing tools and singing for half an hour.”

Next, it was a visit to the hairdressing room. The Governor and his wife were invited back for a trim, anytime!

The tour was capped off at the La Cova Hospitality hub were everyone was treated to an array of savoury and sweet delights freshly made by hospitality students in the school’s industrial kitchens.

Governor Hurley encouraged the students to appreciate the learning and work pathways available at the school and embrace every opportunity which comes their way. True to form, Mrs Hurley wrapped up the visit by encouraging everyone to sing along to her signature song, You Are My Sunshine.
